In Ontario, you can choose how you access a Registered Dental Hygienist!
Legislation passed for Registered Dental Hygienists to become self-initiating and work independently from a dentist in September of 2007.
As regulated healthcare providers, dental hygienists can open their own private practice or offer on-site services in hospitals, long term care facilities and private homes! We follow the "Code of Ethics" and "Standards of Practice" of the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario.
